Venezuela

The first country we will be taking a look at is Venezuela. Venezuela is located on the northern part of the South American continent, along with many smaller islands which the country also contains.

Though Venezuela doesn't get recognition for much else than its oil and politics, it is a very diverse country, both in geography and culture. Smack in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico and the Amazon rainforest, it offers sites to see ranging from soaring mountains to lush forests and sprawling grasslands.

Venezuela is a highly urbanized country, with over 85% of its population living in the cities of the north. With peoples from all over the world residing their, mainly those of European, African, and native descent, the culture is just as diverse as the geographical makeup of Venezuela.

Venezuelan cuisine is hard to put into any given category because it varies so much from area to area, due mainly to the diversity of cultures in the country. Fish and other meats are popular in Venezuela, and vegetables, rice, and tasty snacks are foods which are also a staple part of the Venezuelan diet.

The best way to show you the flavors of Venezuela is to do some cooking, however, and that's what's up next on the menu.
